services / projects
We specialize in providing services
and remodel of existing facilities to make outdated buildings and
residences look and work like new.
We are experienced in bringing facilities into compliance with current
Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
requirements.
In addition to tackling special projects
when working in vacant or occupied space, the Tenant Improvement and Repairs
Divisions offers the highest level of quality, service and responsiveness.
ADA Compliance
ADA compliance must now be factored into the design of all new
industrial, commercial and governmental construction projects, as well as
expansions and renovations. And, for some projects, ADA compliance can
have a significant impact on project cost.
Compliance on new building construction is generally a much simpler task.
For typical existing office buildings and retail facilities, modifications
for compliance mostly involve minor site retrofits, such as adding
handicapped parking spaces, wheelchair ramps and related signage. Restroom
and other plumbing modifications, as well as access and approach for
wheelchair access can be a little more costly. A required addition of an
elevator would probably be one of the most costly items. Other required
changes to existing buildings include visual fire alarm enunciators,
Braille signage, tactile door hardware and accessible elevator controls.
Salomon Construction, will
evaluate the site for Architectural barriers and deficiencies in
compliance with the American’s With Disabilities Act (ADA) that impede
access to the property by individuals with physical disabilities
including:
Under the ADA law, many businesses may be required to provide the following
elements, all of which involve special signage:
- Accessible Parking Spaces
and Wider Walkways
- Accessible Passenger
Loading Zones
- Accessible Entrances

Bollards
A bollard is a short vertical post. Bollards can be found where
large ships dock. A post used for mooring a variety of structures to
control or direct road traffic. Bollards can be arranged in a line to
close a road or path to vehicles above a certain width. Bollards can be
mounted near enough to each other that they block ordinary cars, for
instance, but wide enough to permit special-purpose vehicles through.
Bollards can be used to enclose car-free zones, removable bollards allow
access for service and emergency vehicles.
Permanent bollards are increasingly common around the world to hinder
automobile-based terrorist actions and otherwise prevent motorized
vehicles from achieving close proximity with buildings.
Carpet & Flooring
The sub-floor and underlayment layers are the fundamental keys to
having a level, stable floor. If the sub-floor sags or "bounces," chances
are the flooring will too. No matter what type of flooring you decide to
install, sub-floor and underlayment rules are basically the same. They
should be stable, clean, and smooth (not always level, but smooth).
Carpet is available in a few different materials. Wool holds its shape,
but is expensive and tends to fray or "pill," and is mildew/moisture
prone.
Nylon is most popular. It's easy to clean, very strong, resists mildew,
but may be pricy. Polyester and Olefin are also durable, resist
staining/mildew, but tend to pill and compact, respectively.
Pile describes the weave a carpet has. Loop, twist, shag, and plush all
refer to the way the carpet fibers are woven into the backing.
A carpet's quality is usually tied to pile thickness. Bend the carpet and
see how much backing is exposed. The tighter pile, the more durability and
quality it will provide.
There are also several grades of carpet padding. But one simple technique
to judge padding is by pinching it. If the pad compacts more than half its
thickness, the pad's probably not resilient enough to withstand much
long-term wear and tear.
Concrete
Concrete is used more than any other man made material on the
planet. It is used to make pavements, architectural structures,
foundations, motorways/roads, parking structures, brick/block walls and
footings for gates, fences and poles.
Thorough mixing is essential for the production of uniform, high quality
concrete. Therefore, equipment and methods should be capable of
effectively mixing concrete materials containing the largest specified
aggregate to produce uniform mixtures of the lowest slump practical
for the work.
Doors & Windows
Drywall
Gypsum has been used as a building material since the Egyptians erected the Pyramids. Today, gypsum products continue to provide safety and value to the built environment Small nail holes or shallow dents can be repaired pretty easily with a little bit of patching. Larger holes require more detailed attention.
Dumpster doors

Repair of damaged B-Deck panels
Electrical
Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Electrical Installations. General commercial office upgrades and modifications, Installation of new electrical, light fixtures, switches, circuit breakers, outlets, upgrade gear and re-lamping.
Fences
As communities began demanding more aesthetically appealing fence systems, introduction new colors, styles and designs to enhance the appeal of traditional chain-link while keeping costs reasonable. By adding vinyl color-coatings to traditional chain-link, the industry introduced its biggest innovation in chain-link fence since its invention.
“Black, green and brown color-coated chain-link fences are designed to blend into the landscape and minimize their own presence, plus the vinyl coating is soft to a child's touch.
With all of these options, chain-link fence can be designed to create a stately, elegant image for a home, disappear into the landscape or provide added security for a company's assets by using different styles, colors and designs.
Framing
Steel Framing or "rough carpentry" is the basic building skill of new construction and almost every remodeling/addition project.
Framing consists of top and bottom plates, wall studs, and headers,
trimmers/kings studs as needed for window and door openings.
Steel framing utilizes cold-formed steel members for walls, floors, and/or
roofs. The framing members are C-sections with standard dimensions similar
to wood framing studs. Steel framing can be a cost effective alternative
to wood framing.
Steel mills produce galvanized sheet steel, the base material for steel
members. Sheet steel is roll-formed into shapes used for framing. The
sheets are zinc coated (galvanized) to prevent corrosion. Although there
are a variety of shapes available, the primary shapes used in construction
are the C-shape stud and the U-shaped track. Framing members are generally
produced in thickness of 12 to 24 gauges with 3-˝ and 5-˝ widths.
Glass & Mirror
Handrails
To install adequate railing, wherever needed for the comfort and safety of all people, especially those with mobility problems. Steel or high strength aluminum, handrail and railing systems meet all ADA accessibility standards, are maintenance free and ideal for stairways, ramps , walkways and platforms.

Leak detection
Non-destructive detection of all types of leaks including hidden water and sewer leaks. Concealed plumbing systems, we use the most advanced, sophisticated electronic leak detection devices - without bashing holes in walls or digging up the deck and yard.
Masonry
Masonry is the building of structures from individual units laid
in and bound together by mortar. The common materials of masonry
construction are brick, stone such as marble, granite, travertine,
limestone: concrete block, glass block, and tile. Masonry is generally a
highly durable form of construction. However, the materials used, the
quality of the mortar and workmanship, and the pattern the units are laid
in can strongly affect the durability of the overall masonry construction.

Stucco
Stucco is a material made of an aggregate, a binder, and water
which is applied wet, and hardens when it dries. It is used as a coating
for walls and ceilings and for decoration. Stucco may be used to cover
less visually appealing construction materials such as concrete, cinder
block, or clay brick and adobe.
Stucco is made of Portland cement and water. Lime is often added to
increase the permeability and workability of modern stucco. Sometimes
additives such as acrylics and glass fibers are added to improve the
structural properties of the plaster as well as its workability.
Stucco usually consists of 1 layer of wire lath and 3 layers of portland
cement-based plaster.
First a wire mesh is attached to vapor permeable, water-resistant "tar"
paper if stucco is being applied to a wood framed structure or light-gauge
steel frame structure. The paper protects the sheathing and interior of
the wall from outside moisture intrusion without trapping moisture vapor
in the wall.
The first layer of plaster is called a "scratch coat", consisting of
plastic cement and sand.
The next layer is called the "brown coat" or leveling coat.
The exterior stucco layer is the final layer and is referred to as the
"color coat" or "stucco coat".

walls would be straight and square. Unfortunately this is not usually the
case. Everyone will need to evaluate their own circumstances to determine
the best layout for their tile floor.
